In the past, we would all gather in June to watch E3. The largest video game firms were present at this expo to show off the newest content that will be available. However, starting with the 2020 pandemic, E3 began to decline and completely stopped occurring in certain years. This year, E3 made an effort to bounce back, but it was once again canceled. But taking its place has been Summer Game Fest.
This year's Summer Game Fest was well-received, and according to a tweet by Geoff Keighley, it established a new record for the company. Fortunately, the host was able to confirm that Summer Game Fest will happen again in 2024. More information is allegedly forthcoming, but we can anticipate a showcase event to happen in June 2024. Hopefully, it will feature plenty of news, updates, and brand-new video game debuts, much as this year's event did this past weekend. Since this year's event was a physical one, perhaps there will be an even greater emphasis on growing it. It will be fascinating to watch how the event is changed the next year.
Just to review from this previous event, there were a ton of amazing video game moments. Mortal Kombat 1 gameplay, the introduction of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, the release date for Marvel's Spider-Man 2, fresh gameplay for Alan Wake 2, and even another look at Final Fantasy VII Rebirth were all part of the mix. Thus, this was an exciting game presentation that served as the first of many that would come later. But once more, we can at least keep in mind that Geoff Keighley will host another Summer Game Fest in June 2024.
The next question will be if there will be an additional effort to launch E3 in 2024. Instead of going to huge media conferences like we used to see with E3, the majority of firms now host their own focused showcases. It could be difficult for E3 to resume after Summer Games Fest demonstrated to continue to acquire more attention from both leaders in the video game business and players globally since numerous of these firms had something to present there.
