Alan Wake 2 will be released this year, and we got our first glimpse at it during Summer Game Fest.
Alan Wake 2 will be released in October, providing another entrance to the expanding Remedy universe. The studio just debuted a new cinematic video during the PlayStation showcase, and now we get our first look at gameplay at Summer Game Fest.
The gameplay presentation validated Remedy's claim that this is their first survival-horror game. It's more like Resident Evil than Alan Wake, with a slower, creepier pace, a camera closer to the character, and longer opponent engagements. Saga Anderson, a new playable character in Alan Wake 2, is one of the game's standout new features. Watch as she investigates an abandoned general store in the woods around Cauldron Lake before confronting, well, a Taken.
Following her brief escape, you'll witness some new investigative gameplay based on the FBI agent's past.
Remedy has been indicating more firmly since the publication of Control that many of its games are related, which means plenty of Easter eggs like a Max Payne appearance (sort of).
