Since Mortal Kombat 11 was completed, fans of the series have eagerly anticipated news about the upcoming mainstream entry. While most of us expected the upcoming game to be a continuation of the Mortal Kombat series and be called Mortal Kombat 12, NetherRealm Studios has been hard at work on a reboot. Players will be returned to Mortal Kombat 1 in this soft relaunch, but don't anticipate the same plot to be restarted.

Instead, we are aware that Mortal Kombat 1 will introduce us to a fresh chronology in which some of our favorite characters will appear. The situation may have changed since we last left them in the previous Mortal Kombat era, though. Consequently, we may anticipate a more elaborate plot in this game where we'll learn about the backstories of the characters and how they interact with one another. The emphasis is on reintroducing us to these characters, and we might even recognize some new ones. Although it's unclear exactly what NetherRealm Studios has in store, we can still anticipate some harsh gaming.

We learn a little bit more about the roster, plot, and fatalities in the gameplay footage. The fighting is certainly as vicious as we have come to expect from this series. There will be a lot of violence and some pretty crazy deaths. We even saw a look at a few of the characters who would be participating in this conflict as well as the other support characters who may come in and provide assistance.

The over-the-top fatalities of Mortal Kombat are still present even if the plot may change. We recently received a taste of this deadly fighting game at today's Summer Game Fest presentation, and it will still be released. We were aware that gameplay will be shown off and that NetherRealm Studios would be present at Summer Game Fest. If you were unable to attend the live presentation, you may still watch the gameplay trailer in the above-mentioned video.

Mortal Kombat 1 is currently planned for release on September 19, 2023 by NetherRealm Studios. Mortal Kombat 1 will be available on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC platforms when it finally reaches the market.
