Hideo Kojima Helped Make Documentary About Himself

People who have been involved in the video game industry for a long time will almost always talk about their journey from the beginning to the present. What is a voyage, after all, without hardship, self-sacrifice, motivation, and all in between? These developers occasionally start out somewhere and finish up somewhere quiet else. For the renowned Hideo Kojima, he is a guy who, while at Konami, oversaw one of the best and most lucrative video game series in history with Metal Gear Solid before essentially being cast aside. Many were left to worry about what he would do after that and whether he would be able to recover.

He later founded Kojima Productions, where, as is well known, he risked everything to create video games that he had complete control over and that matched the vision that he had in his head, such as Death Stranding. But how did he manage to make such a radical change? We'll learn more about him in a documentary that will be published later this month.

On June 17th, "Hideo Kojima: Connecting Worlds" will detail how Kojima left Konami and tried to found his own business in order to not just "make games," but also the visions in his head. You can hear from Kojima himself in the documentary about his creative process, personal history, and motivations. You'll hear from others as well, who will provide their opinions on the risks Kojima took by carrying out these actions and if it was a good idea to do them in the first place.

Although it may seem strange for someone like Kojima to participate in a documentary on himself, it makes sense given what he went through after Konami and the "new world" he unexpectedly found himself in after spending years in one place.

Perhaps he intends to use this documentary to encourage people to go their own ways and realize their own original ideas. To create original video games for various systems, we could always need some innovative ideas.

The documentary does not imply that Kojima is not also working hard on other projects. Along with other projects, he has been working on the sequel to his debut independent game. The man enjoys his hectic schedule and is really occupied right now. He declares in the trailer, "I'm a daydreamer," and he intends to keep fulfilling his fantasies.
