There may not have been the strongest presentation this week, but that doesn't mean the Capcom Showcase wasn't full of surprises. The release of the Apollo Justice Ace Attorney Trilogy was undoubtedly the largest. By bringing the beloved Ace Attorney series into the contemporary gaming world, this trio of games helps "complete" the ongoing story. The three titles have been upgraded cosmetically with shiny 3D graphics, much like the previous trilogy. This is significant because all three games were developed for handheld devices and need a makeover to run on contemporary consoles.
The Apollo Justice Ace Attorney Trilogy is significant because it represents the "back half" of the narrative, which saw the development of Phoenix Wright's life and career while also introducing several significant new characters.
You'll play as Apollo, a new attorney hired to represent Phoenix Wright in a murder trial, in the first game. After that, when she starts working for Wright, an exciting journey filled with bizarre cases, compelling individuals, and amazing narrative turns begins.
The return of Phoenix Wright, who will collaborate with Apollo and new hire Athena Cykes to help uncover secrets that will have an impact on the wider world, save the law of the land, and even aid maintain order in another country, is one of those surprises.
Oh, you mistook them for legal games? They are much more than that, though. The development team also noted that the titles' visual and aural components will be translated into several languages.
Due to the fact that some of these games were exclusive to the Nintendo DS and 3DS and were only available as digital downloads, some of them have been unavailable to players for a while. In 2024, the trilogy will be released, giving you the option to "complete the set" and enjoy all six mainline games on your current platform. The trailer for the reveal may be seen below:
To be honest, though, there is optimism among supporters on what this may indicate. You see, Capcom hasn't given any hints as to when or if we'll receive a 7th mainstream game in the franchise, despite the excellent sales of all three releases on the DS and 3DS and a cliffhanger ending for the sixth game.
