Following the recent announcement of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, developer Treyarch has confirmed in an interview with VentureBeat that all sniper rifles will have the potential for a one-shot kill in multiplayer mode.
Treyarch's associate design director, Matt Scronce, revealed in the interview that all sniper rifles in Black Ops 6 can achieve a one-shot kill from the torso upwards. Despite this lethal capability, Scronce emphasized that each sniper will still possess unique characteristics, such as varying fire rates and recoil patterns.
Historically, Call of Duty's multiplayer modes have featured snipers with differing power levels. Some rifles offer a high fire rate but require multiple shots to take down an enemy. In contrast, others may deliver a powerful single-shot kill but at the cost of a slower fire rate.
In multiplayer modes, where players can respawn, the impact of a death is less significant compared to battle royale modes, where a single life carries more weight. While Treyarch focused on the multiplayer aspects, they hinted that discussions about how these mechanics will translate to Warzone will come later. Scronce noted, "We're all very aware of what we're doing. There's a goal of consistency, but there's also a goal of doing what's right for each experience."
Fans can expect to see Black Ops 6’s sniper rifles in action during Call of Duty Next on August 28. This event will feature content creators showcasing multiplayer gameplay in a livestream.
