The open-world Avatar game from Ubisoft is nearly here. We got a good peek at Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora's plot and gameplay at the company's Summer Game Fest preview event. In a previously recorded part, James Cameron teased "new environments, new flora and fauna, and characters" as he introduced the game.

How this story will relate to the Avatar films is explained in a cinematic teaser. In essence, it will cover the events of both games, with the main character getting abducted during the first movie's events and being educated by the aliens. You are cryogenically frozen after the events of Avatar, then unfrozen 15 years later to combat the RDA's oncoming invasion.

You'll be able to mix Na'vi abilities and weaponry with human assault guns and a few casual rocket launchers in this open-world first-person action-adventure game. (The game's developer, Massive, is well known for creating Tom Clancy's The Division 2.)

Your Na'vi instincts will function like a scanner to find threats and geographical details. You may develop your character to suit your own playstyle by increasing your abilities and making weapons and other equipment out of materials. By engaging with plants and other Na'vi, you will get a deeper awareness of your Na'vi ancestry, which will be reflected in increases in agility and other traits.

Without the capacity to form bonds with sentient creatures you can ride, it wouldn't be an Avatar affair. The potential to possess an ikran and ride direhorses is hinted at in the trailer. When not flying down waterfalls, you can feed and modify your spouse. In Frontiers of Pandora, you'll encounter as-yet-unseen Na'vi clans, including a covert healer clan, in a new western region not shown in the movies.
