If you were hoping to see Sony at Gamescom this year, we're afraid we have some terrible news for you. The Sony PlayStation firm appears to be withdrawing from this year's event. It follows in the footsteps of their decision not to display last year. Of course, that may not come as a surprise any longer. Since the epidemic began, there has been a shift in video game presentation.
While we may be over the threat of covid and it no longer has a significant impact on our everyday lives, certain businesses may have chosen a more cautious approach to dealing with it. Several expos and events, for example, were canceled between 2020 and 2021. However, this encouraged the development of a new method of providing exciting news to the video game industry.
For example, rather than using these large stages and possibly paying a lot of money to have a conference, we began to see modest Livestream events. That is already occurring with events such as the PlayStation Showcase, Ubisoft Forward, Xbox Games Showcase, and the Capcom Showcase, to mention a few.
The news came from Gamesmarkt, which we discovered thanks to Push Square. According to Gamesmarkt, Sony will not be attending Gamescom, therefore there will be no significant announcements from the firm, nor will they have a presence on the exhibition floor. With that stated, there will most certainly be lots of third-party titles and demos available but don't anticipate anything directly from Sony at this year's Gamescom show.
